System Requirements LucidLink Classic

The following list of operating system requirements are guidelines: we have tested and qualified these minimum specifications and hardware configurations for the successful deployment and proper operation of our client.

Lucidlink aims to provide support for a particular OS version while it is within its standard OS support window. Please remember to review this topic regularly, as we will continuously revise and evolve our requirements.

Windows 

  • Microsoft Windows 10 (64 bit) or Windows Server 2022 and above.
  • 2 GB or more of RAM (4 GB recommended).
  • 200 MB or more of available local hard drive space for installation; additional free space required during operation, for cloud data file access and local caching (25GiB default local cache). Cache location is recommended on Solid-state drive (SSD) or Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) formatted in Microsoft's New Technology File System (NTFS).
  • Internet connectivity** is necessary to initially join your Filespace; and for ongoing access to online object store resources.

Windows 10 remains a tested platform due to high adoption, despite its end-of-support status with Microsoft. While we strive to maintain compatibility, we may be unable to address certain issues if they stem from underlying OS vulnerabilities or a lack of vendor-provided updates.

macOS 

  • macOS Sonoma (14.x) and above.
  • 2 GB or more of RAM (4 GB recommended).
  • 200 MB or more of available local hard drive space for installation; additional free space required during operation, for cloud data file access and local caching (5GiB default local cache). Cache location is recommended on Solid-state drive (SSD) or Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) formatted as Apple File System (APFS).
  • Internet connectivity** is necessary to initially join your Filespace and for ongoing access to online object store resources.

Our app is often compatible with older macOS versions; however, our team focuses testing efforts on modern systems. If you encounter a bug on an unsupported version, we will do our best to help—provided the issue also occurs on a supported platform.

Linux

  • Ubuntu 22.04 (LTS) and above

  • Rocky Linux 9 and above

  • 2 GB or more of RAM (4 GB recommended).
  • 200 MB or more of available local hard drive space for installation; additional free space required during operation, for cloud data file access and local caching (5GiB default local cache). Cache location is recommended on Solid-state drive (SSD) or Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe).
  • Internet connectivity** is necessary to initially join your Filespace; and for ongoing access to online object store resources.

The desktop client is tested on the versions above but should run on other modern Linux distributions. Please note that OS versions older than those mentioned are not supported and will likely fail to operate with the latest versions of the client.

Our best efforts are to support as many operating environments as possible: if your available system resources are not listed, it is not to say our client will not operate, moreover we may not have qualified against the resources available to your system and will endeavor to provide our best efforts to support you. 

 

* Please assist us in field qualification of any system requirements unlisted above.

** Requires a suitable internet connection, which matches the IO expectations of liaising with remote data (not previously cached) from the cloud. i.e.. size of data, latency between user and data, all affect overall user experience - the client imposes no artificial limitations on the connectivity available, and will use as much, or as little connectivity available at any given period.

We do not support Beta or Preview versions of operating systems.
